Pull Power from the Book

by Joanne Wiklund

Spring is really here even if I did see snowflakes just a short time ago. I thought the birds have been awfully quiet these past days. Then I remembered I closed my slightly opened window when it got colder. If I open the front door at dawn and stick my nose out for a breath of fresh air, the birds all holler at me. So far the neighbors haven’t complained about me being “nosy.’

The pond across the street from me has drained away. A pair of Canada Geese who floated there a couple of days are gone too. It was nice to hear them again. I love to see them, especially flying in formation. Three Canadas flying together are often Mom and Dad and a young one. If you miss them in your neighborhood you can maybe see them on the riverbank across the street from the River Valley Library in Port Byron about sundown.

One of the things I do early morning also is plug in all the devices that need to be charged. I don’t like to leave things charging overnight, so I plug them in first thing. I thought this morning it would be nice if I could just charge myself to face my day. Then I realized that is an option we have available to us. Our Good Book is one source we can pull power from. Early morning is a good time to start the day with a full charge! But a charge can be more than just a refill of power or energy. It can also be an order, a command and most of all, an action. If we don’t use the charge we have here in our hearts, our power over it will be lessened. So be sure to charge up early and take it through the day.

Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might, he increases strength. Even the young shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fail. But  they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
