Starting Again

by Joanne Wiklund

One more time we get to restart ourselves for a New Year. Think about your computer. I hope it’s okay. Mine is giving me fits and I was puzzled until I checked a few things. It’s a refurbished 2009! New, one of the best gifts I ever got, and reworked a few years back. IMac Guru Joe King from experiMax in Bettendorf gave me a new lease on life with a redo. But he took it as far as he could. We’re trying now to decide what I need next, and I really appreciate him.

Restart. Fixes a lot of things sometimes, errors and mistakes. But restart can also mean starting again, anew. My problem is mostly with the way I look at things sometimes. I’m still trying to change “I can’ts” to “I don’t want to’s.” Because so often we say “I can’t” when we know we can, but we don’t want to. Accept life changing circumstances? “I can’t.” No, “I don’t want to.” I only have three kinds of things to deal with: My Have To’s, My WantTo’s and My CanDo’s. If I drop the list of HaveTo’s into the list of my WantTo’s, all I have to deal with really are that list and trying to make my CanDo’s keep up! Building my CanDo list is a whole lot easier with Jesus in your life. So make a list of Can’ts and see if you can turn them into WantTo’s and make your life a whole lot better. Oh, and you are allowed to get rid of some of the HaveTo’s when you learn you really can say No sometimes.

Psalms 56:8 13 “Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?” 13 “For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?”

Isaiah 60:20 “Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light,  and the days of your mourning shall be ended.”
