Seems like a rash of misfortune has hit lately, and hit hard. Everyone I’ve spoken to is having a tough time, or someone they love and care about is. Some of it has hit too close to home. Some of it is repeat experience we’ve already gone through on our own. It’s not hard to relate to someone else’s pain when you’ve had similar experiences.
We need to pull ourself together and see what we can do to make things better. What can I do to help you? What a great question that is! A young man asked me that one time after I fell flat on my face on asphalt. My answer: “I’m not sure. I think I just broke my knee.”
Well, I hadn’t. Just road rash and bruises, but I was so calmed by his question. I wasn’t just a body on the ground to him, and he wanted to help me! And he did. He and hubby got me up and moving again.
Our first response, though, is so good when we feel there’s nothing we can do to help someone going through something. Prayer. We can always pray. First thing. Get help, Do what you can. Pray first, though. Even if it’s just an Arrow Prayer. You know: open your eyes, look upward and yell, “Help!”
Jude 24-25 “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
