August. Today is August. Last week I talked about summer and here we are in August. How did that happen? School starts this month. For people my age, that means we have to buy a ruler and protractor. If you’ve ever used a protractor, you can tell me how, because I know that while I always had one in my bag, I don’t remember using it. Protractors had something to do with circles. Blessed are those who go around in circles for they shall be known as wheels.
Did you use notebook paper with wide lines or narrow? So many things are different for students these days. When I think of the things our grade schoolers especially have to get used to, I don’t know how they do it. Or the teachers. I get it. Change is the trend for now and in the future.
But some things about August never change. Fresh red ripe tomatoes on thick bread with bacon and lettuce. Solid, crisp apples fresh from an orchard. Stone’s here I come as soon as you open. Little Victories help us get through the days and our lives. May we be open to change, embrace it and tolerate it well. We know where we’re going and we know who’s with us till it’s time to go.
Job 33:4 “The Spirit of God hath made me and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.”
Job 38:35 “Canst thou not send lightenings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?”
Psalm 18:6 “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple and my cry came before him, even into his ears.”
