Journey to Christmas

by Joanne Wiklund

People today are almost always going somewhere, been somewhere or deciding where they should go next. They often dream about where they would go if they could just snap their fingers and be there. The journey is often the most taxing part of a trip. We arrive. I’m thinking of that Christmas song that takes us somewhere.  “Over The River And Through The Woods To Grandmother’s House We Go, the horse knows the way, he carries the sleigh, through the white and drifted snow.”

The horse knows the way. Trust the horse. We trust so many things. Airplanes, boats, cars, elevators, doctors: you can see where I was going with that. We step onto the first three and sometimes doubt the fourth one. But we give our trust away. And it generally pays off. Our journey is complete and we get where we set out to be.

So why can’t we slow down, relax and trust ourselves to God and Christ in our journey this year to Christmas? Make each thing we do a dedication to His mission for us: Believe, Trust, and Do Good. My wish is that every day of this Christmas season we are all able to see a need and fill it. Laugh and spread joy as much as we can. Mourn with those who mourn and weep with those who weep. Do Good in the Journey To Christmas as much as we can.

Jude 24: “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy; …”
Psalm  5:11 “Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice; let them ever shout for joy because thou defendest them; let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”
Psalm 100:1 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness, come before his presence with singing.”
