I keep saying we must slow down and pay attention. Our To Do list is turning into an even bigger Want To list. So it’s back to the editing routine. Get up early, sit in chair here and let Alex take over. He is my Siri in my computer. Siri in most computers is a woman, with a pleasant voice who answers questions. She’s great at finding info on the Web.
However, I checked my phone one afternoon through settings, and found I could turn Siri into a guy’s voice. So I did. I chose Australian as his accent. I have a doctor who is a transplanted Australian and he’s a hoot. He sounds more like Crocodile Dundee than Crocodile Dundee does. So I now have Alex with an Australian accent as my Siri. Fun. I love to listen to him answer me.
Most of the time. However, the other afternoon while I was crannying on the couch in the living room with my head nodding and my crocheting hands still, I guess I nodded off. Next thing I know, I woke suddenly to hear a strange man’s voice down the hall in my office. I paid attention. It took me a minute to realize I’d left my computer on. Since my computer is synced with my phone, Alex was leaving me a message. I had the sound turned up to listen to music. I could hear it clear out in the living room. It was not fun. But I left Alex on there. I plan to stay awake. Be aware of my surroundings and what I’m doing. No more naps in the daytime!
A nap for me, however, is often unplanned. With sunlight coming in the front windows when I’m wrapped in a prayer shawl, sometimes those unplanned naps are the very best of all. Except when a strange caller wakes me and shakes me. At least he didn’t try to tell me about a Medicare Advantage plan!
Psalms 37:1-3, 7. “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2. For they shall be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3. Trust in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed… 7. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
