One of my habits which preceded the pandemic is coloring with gel pens in inspirational color books. I color in an assortment of color books as in Jesus Always Coloring Book and Words of Jesus To Color. The colors of my world are important to me also. Color speaks to me.
This morning as I colored, I wondered what if any color there is in the Ukraine during this terrible time. Photos from there show darkness, their cities piles of gray rubble wih bodies being carried away. Their men-husbands, brothers, sons, uncles, nephews and grandpas-are gone for the most part, some mobilized into the military, with some never to return. That surely takes color out of your world, I know. With limited water supplies, food and other necessities, being clean alone must be a struggle. I did see that an aid organization has found a way to decontaminate wells and it appeared to be working well. A drink of clean water is taken by granted for us.
According to Britannica, the blue and yellow flag of the Ukraine represents the blue skies and golden wheat fields of the country. It was revised sinee its appearance in 1848, to blue and yellow instead of the original gold color.
Spring in Ukraine usually brings melting snow, high wind and mud. This year, perhaps a stronger Russian offensive. But Spring will hopefully also bring blooming lilacs, fuschia, wild hydrangeas, pansies, morning glory, bougainvilla and roses. Color could be coming back whereever the plants survived winter weather and chemicals from the war or Chernobyl. May God lift the hearts of Ukrainian people when the blooming brings color back to their world. Hope is what they need and the flowers will help show God’s promise once more.
Colossians 3:16-17 “Let the words of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
Love this, it gives me hope, today is my Daughter Debbie’s 61 birthday in Heaven, I miss her.
Oh, Dorothy! I’m so sorry. Saturday would have been my hubby’s 89th birthday. We lost our daughter 19 years ago at the age of 40. It would be even harder still without the promises of God about how we will see them again. Please know I will be praying He will keep you strong for the others still here with you. Love. J.
