After Easter Peace?

by Joanne Wiklund

Thousands of people around the world have suffered and even lost their lives from unheard of weather. The all clear on the TV weather radar is so good. After last week’s tornadoes, hail, blizzards, rain, snow, and even earthquakes in places, we need relief. Remember also, there were flash floods and mudslides. We hunkered down in the Midwest and waited for the weather to change. What we really wanted then while we sat in the basement waiting is what we hope to have today: An all clear here, even though we’re still praying for all those other folks who are digging out, looking for a place to get water and food while picking up tiny pieces of their lives. Survivors’ grief and survivors’ joy are mingled in so many places. People are starved for Peace, also.

Peace. Peace all over the world. I used to tell my children that all I wanted for Christmas was Peace, on earth, in our world and in the hearts of my family and friends. But before I can truly experience that, I must have peace in my own heart and life before I can share it with the rest of my world. Jesus said, “My peace I leave with you.“ If He left it with me, what did I do with it?

Choose Peace this day or night my friend. Choose to listen to your still small voice and choose Peace. Start something right where you are. Write about Peace. Where do you go to find it and what do you do with it when you find it? It’s right there in your heart where Jesus left it. Choose to share it. Write about how you found it, what motivated you to search for it.

1 Peter 3:10 “For he that will love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11. Let him eschew evil and let him do good; let him seek peace and ensue it.”
