So often we look for an easy out of a bad situation we find ourselves in. Not wanting to make a scene, or interrupt what’s going on, or draw attention to ourself, we take the path of least resistance. Forget negotiation, we simply head for the door, even if it’s just a conversation we weren’t really invited to. We were there for another reason. The Bible tells us that Jesus was interrupted so often. Someone was always wanting him to do something for them.
Most of the time He did change the situation, but not in the way the person asked for. Surprise is His modus operandi. Most often His way is to change what the person wants to change but not necessarily in the way they wanted. His way is better from His perspective, not always ours. In the end, however, His way proves to be better than we expect it to be. We need to take a stand for Jesus and let Him use us.
We would like to be elements of change, but we forget that basically we can’t change anything. Have a friend who often shoots himself in the foot trying to change things? God is the only one who can change things. We can listen to Him and be the Instrument of His change. He works through us, using us to serve His purpose.
There’s a difference in being used by someone else for their own benefit or being a servant of the Lord to right a wrong, or make a needed change. Servant is a loaded word, depending on your place in life. As a child of God, we are called to serve. Who did you serve today?
Psalms 103:17-18 “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; To such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.”
