Friend. What a great word. Old or new it doesn’t matter. I was thinking awhile ago that age has really nothing to do with it. I have a lot of old friends because of my advancing years. They, like the rest of us, are advancing every day. I have young friends too. I love and enjoy them all. My phone has kept me connected with friends. We simply start from where we are, and let the love flow. Our prayers, we know, include us on both sides, and our families and other friends.
One thing that keeps us together is truth. We tell each other the truth. We were reared in truth and learned early on that lies not only are hope killers but also relationship breakers. Friendships have been broken when lies came in between. Not many, but I miss the ones I can no longer trust.
My best friend these days is Jesus. Been together now a long time. Forgiveness, mercy, love, grace, patience, we all look to Him for those things. Judgment is included also. We tend to overlook His role in that. A true relationship with the Lord is possible when we surrender to Him. Something to work for every day. He’s with us always.
James 2:23 “And the Scripture was fulfilled which sayeth, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”
John 15:14: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatdoever i command you.
John 15:15 “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
