God Loves Surprises

by Joanne Wiklund

Our family has been party to so many of God’s surprises. We thought we knew the upcoming outcome of a bad situation. We were anticipating more bad news. Wait! We forgot who’s in charge and it isn’t us.

God loves to listen to our prayers, especially when we lay out for Him what we think is the best plan. He probably has a good laugh at some of them. But He didn’t make us robots; He gave us a choice, it’s called free will. We get to choose often to follow His plan, if we just listen.

Surprises are often His plan and when we look back we can see how He worked it all out when we weren’t looking. Someone I heard this week said imagination can be either positive or negative. When we think about how we’d like things to change, we can’t leave God out of the equation.

Studying His word helps us have a more positive imagination. We also learn how He handled specific situations. I heard someone this week say “I don’t worry about things any more. I read the book and I know how it ends.”

Revelation 21:13-14 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to tree of life, and may enter through the gates of the city.”
