Thanksgiving week. I can’t believe we’re here, even thugh I’ve been complaining about how fast time is passing. It’s either flying or I’ve been transported back to years past Thanksgivings I remember. Daycare programs, where we ate candy corn, pumpking bars and something else the kids had made the day before. Thanksgiving with little kids in a church, singing together:
“Oh, I thank you Lord, because you gave me a smile,
You gave me Jesus and you made me your child,
So I just thank you Lord, for making me me. “
Even in this traumatic time with wars almost everywhere, we have so much to thank God for. Our personal relationship with the One True God. For Jesus and the Holy Spirit, for our worldwide family of God who are caring for desperate people everywhere. We thank God for America, our military, our law enforcement, our medical community, and yes even our government.
We pray daily that we will all come together as Americans to recognize our differences of opinions and work to resolve them. Still we cannot compromise our God-given standards of behavior. One pundit this week reminded us that Good and Evil will never come together to agree. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you. Help us recognize Evil when we are greeted by it. Lord, please help us feed as many starving people as we can. And I don’t mean just at our house on Thanksgiving. In this country and around the world. Hope your Thanksgiving table is heavy laden and fun!
Psalms 138:3 “In this day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.”
Psalms 140:13 “Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.”
