Still Thankful? Good!

by Joanne Wiklund

Leftovers from Thanksgiving are in the freezer or all gone by now. Nothing like leftover cold dressing with a little Miracle Whip for lunch. Topped off with chocolate chip bars for dessert. But we really should never run out of the thankfulness that the holiday brings us. My holiday week ended today with a special escort to church: my Number One Grandson. He loves music and since he works out of town now, he was surprised by the band of musicians that play on Sundays at Countryside.

I was happy starting out with Joy To The World. I made an error right here right now. I thought about leaving it. I wrote Joy To The Word. Think about it . When we are unhappy, sick, lonesome, ill at ease, angry, broken, a little time in the Word is necessary.  We are reminded as we read our Bible that there is Joy In The Word to be had for only a good read in the Good Book.

God is good, Jesus is our Saviour and the Holy Spirit leads us onward if we let Him. We all know what’s coming next. Christmas! Let’s carry the Joy all the way there and past it. When I first lost my Joy twenty years ago, I had a hard time finding it. A good friend brought me a copy of all the scriptures in the Bible that spoke of Joy. It’s in there, folks, we just have to look for it. I’ve got the joy, joy, joy joy, down in my heart. Onward!.

Mattthew 25:21, 23 ”His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servent: thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee rule over many things: enter thou into the joy of the lord.”

James 4-6,10.“But He giveth more grace. Wherefore, he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 10. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord,  and He shall lift you up.”
