Many people these days seem to be so interested in what’s coming next. But really, no one seems to know for sure. Depends on who you ask. News is generally who said what about whom online and even on streaming news. Isn’t that the definition of gossip? Truth is what makes it news. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present. Deciding who is telling the truth is really hard right now in terms of media. Wanting to move forward is something a lot of us are doing, but there again, we want to make sure we make the right moves. Move toward Him and not away from Him. Looking back is not always fruitful. We can get stuck in the past and get too comfortable. Yet those memories sometimes bring us wisdom, which is what is lacking in Washington these days. A word not easy to define.
According to my computer’s dictionary: Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise: listen to his words of wisdom. • the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment: some questioned the wisdom of building the dam so close to an active volcano. • the body of knowledge and principles that develops within a specified society or period: the traditional farming wisdom of India.
Also lacking in our whole country, I believe, is respect. Learning the Ten Commandments in school was a move toward learning to respect others. Lack of respect for our elders helped us respect wisdom when we learned from them. Not to repeat mistakes, learn from them was part of our punishment. It’s all about rights these days. So many people are insisting they have rights about a myriad of things. Not too many people of all ages care about the responsibilities that come to you with rights. Make a mistake, accept responsibility, learn from it. Don’t repeat it. I’m convinced that while God might not live in Washington, DC., He knows all those people. He should. He made them. He has plans for us. We have an assignment we need to complete. He is also a loving, caring, wise God, who tries hard to help us see His Wisdom. May He continue to bless us all and care for us as He has in the past and even just today. He knew us before we were conceived. He was there when the sun was placed in the sky. When we see a rainbow, we know He set it there so we would remember He won’t flood the earth again. In the next verse after that, He says when we see a rainbow we should also remember He’s looking back at us at the same time. He is just so good.
Romans 12:16 “Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.”
Romans 13:1 “Let every soul be subject unto the highest powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that are ordained of God.”
Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than we when we believed.”
