St. Patrick’s Day

by Joanne Wiklund

This is one holiday I dearly love. Everyone is happy, wearing green, my favorite color. Our daughter also loved green, She always dressed up for this day, and memories of her in her various outfits makes me smile now. Smile is what people do when they ask if you are Irish. When anyone asked Darling Daughter if she was Irish, she would laugh and say, “Only for today!”

Our world right now has a smile and laugh shortage, so any reason to make light appear in this dark world is to be appreciated. We are called to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth,, the keepers of the Faith. How does the world see us, when we come out of these dark places we find ourselves in sometimes?  Jesus is with us always, and if we can represent Him in a way that brings others to a connection, even a small one, with Him, we are serving our purpose.

I am encouraged by posts on social media asking What ever happened  to WWJD? What Would Jesus Do? Great question to ask yourself when you’re getting ready to growl at someone for some obscure reason. Don’t get offended is good advice. We do have a choice. We also have the right always to defend our Faith, called to do it even. But in a loving respectful way. Listen for His call, His direction.

2  Peter 17-18 “Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware, lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. 18. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to him be glory both now and forever. Amen.
