I’ve been a weather nerd for a long time. The Weather Channel forecasters’ work include my all-time favorite weather video of Jim Cantore in a terrible dark snow storm. He was screaming and dancing, microphone in hand, in the midst of “Thunder Snow” for the first time ever. I’m also thankful for Jacob Perkins, an American scientist and mechanical engineer. He invented the first vapor compression refrigeration system in 1934.
Think of our world without refrigeration or air conditioning. I did that this week when my refrigerator died. We are so blessed in this country. Citizens of the world don’t all have refrigerators, ice, or even weather forecasts.
The idea of snow in the middle of July in the mountains is not new to me, however. We went through Yellowstone in late May in 2004 with plenty of snow on the ground. As we paid the toll in, a big sign nearby said “Caution. Pavement Ends.” We drove in with a white minivan and out riding in a brown minivan. Mud everywhere.
Most of all, I respect God for His care, planning, and creation of what we need. May He continue to watch over us all.
Matthew 16:1,2,3 “The Pharisees and the Sadducees came, tempting Jesus that He would show them a sign from Heaven. He answered and said unto them, ‘When it is evening, ye say it will be fair weather for the sky is red. And in the morning it will be foul weather today; for the sky is red and lowering.
O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And He left them and departed.”
