Graduation can be such an exciting time in an everyday world. For anyone who graduates from school, work, career education, the end of training sessions can even be such a relief. We try not to break our arm patting ourselves on our backs because we’ve done such a good job.
After a year of “last times,” we finally get to the last one, the last time we work and then complete our time. We may get a diploma or a raise in pay, we feel so proud of ourselves just for getting through.
There are, however, millions of jobs where workers don’t ever graduate. We see a lot of people like that every day and sometimes we aren’t even aware they are there. They are the hand that takes your money grocery at the store or gives you your shot. They might deliver your mail or check you out or load your grocery drive through order.
I always try to make sure people who serve me know I see them. I try to make them at least chuckle or better still laugh hard. I try to laugh with them or let them know I appreciate what they’re doing for me. If you or someone you love is graduating this month, let them know you love them and see them. Hug them if you can.
Micah: 6-8 “What doth the Lord require of thee, but to …walk humbly with thy God.”
Matt: 5-6 “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness.”
Luke: 6-21 “Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep: for ye shall laugh.”
Good reminder. I try to remember to compliment people who do a good job at their job. If they went out of their way for me or were just courteous and pleasant.
I think it’s a little easier to remember to say thank you if you yourself have been on the other side of the equation. Meeting the public in a service position can sometimes be a challenge!
