In the midst of all the storms taking place in weather around us, storms of life continue unabated. Family and friends are suffering and we pray daily for their comfort.
If we look outside we see signs of Spring in our world. Daffodils have come and gone, but lilacs, hostas, even good old geraniums are bringing us joy. It is possible to have joy in the midst of sorrow when we learn as we go to count our blessings. That is not just a trivial saying we use to remind us how saintly we are. It’s something we can do to know how much God really loves us.
He is so amazing. I admire the way we are made to experience new things. I love to watch internet videos of babies who have been given new hearing aids or little bitty glasses so they can hear or see for the first time their mother’s voice or face. The reaction of the babies and the way they move from being scared or confused to being happy and full of joy at sound and sight makes me cry every time. God is so good at giving us small things to remind us not only how much He loves us but how ingenious He was when He made the first Human.
Matt: 2-6 “And Jesus called a little child unto him and set him in the midst of them. 3 And said: ’Verily I say unto you, except you be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And who shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6 But who shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea.’ ”
