Music Can Heal Us

by Joanne Wiklund

Every day we are all given the same number of hours. Looking ahead is so important. As a former journalist, I had to try to forecast the future for almost every news report I wrote.

I was privileged to hear stories from  wonderful people whose lives took a turn or two they didn’t expect. Sometimes they expected turns that never materialized. I think of that Country song titled, “I Thank God For Unanswered Prayers.”

When we count our blessings, those unanswered prayers are evidence it’s not that God doesn’t listen to our prayers, but He often has something better in store for us. Bill Gaither has a song I love. “I Just Feel Like Something Good Is About To Happen.”

As I write this, I have country music on my TV playing. I never do that. I want total silence when I write. But when I got my mind tuned into the song in the living room that I could hear in my back office, I was surprised. The Oak Ridge Boys: “I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes.” Tough days coming this week. But I’ll be fine.

Psalm 71:18 : “Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not: until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.”
