Thanksgiving is our holiday this month, and I for one am ready for it. I have so much to be thankful for, and friends have a part in that. God is so good. We’ve taken so much time lately to pray for friends who’ve really been in dire straits physically.
Falls, disease and stress take their toll on us old folks, and younger ones too. We are so thankful right now for a bunch of good guys who are making attempts to heal with God’s help. Miracles still happen, and we are so thankful they do. A good friend of mine who was a PK (Preacher’s Kid) said her father insisted that his family be thankful. He told them if they prayed and asked God for something, if they received what they prayed for, they should spent an equal amount of time saying thank you to God as they did asking Him for what He provided.
I may have mentioned this before but it came to me again this afternoon that saying thank you is a kind thing to do, even if it’s God we’re thanking. It’s hard sometimes to receive gifts from people, even if it’s a gift we thought we just had to have. Kindness is so important in getting along with people. We can’t just tell them how to change their life to make it better in our estimation. Well, often if we do give unsolicited advice and it turns out badly.
Kindness can be expressed in grand or simple ways. Anticipating a need that a friend has is one of the most appreciated way to show kindness. Start now with kindness to those around you and by Thanksgiving you will really feel blessed.
Romans 12:15 “Rejoice with them who rejoice, and weep with those that weep.”
Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind, one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Proverbs 31:26 “In her tongue is the law of kindness.”
