When I think about thankfulness, I thank God for all I have and people who bless my life including those who are gone. I heard a pastor on TBN say when he was talking about thankfulness that more than half of the people in the world have never slept on a sheet! Wow! I love clean sheets.
We could also be thankful for elevators and cars. My mother in law told me that when she was a child out here on the farm, whenever the kids heard a car coming down the gravel road (no mufflers) all the kids ran out to the road to watch it go by. How about a food freezer and a fridge? Or most of all, plumbing and a clean water supply?
The children who go to school at the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana, board at the school during the week, because gas costs too much for the buses to run to school from wilderness homes of the families. Most of the homes do not have plumbing or water. Wells are being drilled as money for the project comes in.
The pictures I’ve seen of the children there have happy faces in them. Thankfulness can and should be taught in homes where plumbing and water abound and food is on the table always. We need to be thankful to God for absolutely everything. For every baby that’s born.
Psalm 89:1 “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.”
I Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
