Today is an official day to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who had a dream. He was a pastor, a husband and a father. He was a Christian and he shared his faith and his dream with anyone who would listen. Despite terrible odds, ending in his tragic death, memorials to him each year are supported by people of faith everywhere. When we try to convince ourselves that we need inspiration, his dedication to his cause and his unfailing faith set an example.
But we really don’t want to look back at where we’ve failed in parts of our lives. We want to go Onward, to a new place somehow, where stresses are less, and less is stressless. How many people you know are decluttering their abodes? Trying to simplify their lives with simple living?
We want to move closer to Jesus and God, and have Peace about things. So we start by looking for our purpose in life. What does God want from us? What did He tell us to do for Him? It almost seems too simple. He wants us to believe Him. His Word tells us what He wants for us. The best thing we can do is to read His word and believe.
Never mind that not everyone else around doesn’t believe in Him, His son or our comforter, the Holy Spirit. He tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. While we do that, we must believe. He doesn’t want us to come to him complete and perfect. That’s impossible for us. He accepts us where we are. He takes care of that after we tell Him we believe and we’re going to do what He tells us:
Believe.
John 13:33-35 “Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come: so now I say to you. 34. A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love on another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
