Right about now I’m wondering how in the world I got here. 2023? How can it be?
My memories outnumber my remembrance of yesterday. I find myself so often thinking of old friends, old places, old pets. Guess that means I’m getting old. But I don’t always feel old. I sometimes get in trouble when I think I can do something I’ve always done, and it doesn’t turn out like I anticipated it too. Thank goodness I have so many people who come to my rescue when I call.
Like Nancy. I hadn’t called her but she came. She turned up on my door on Christmas Day with a bag of yarn. I was almost out. I was down to brown, blue, white and green. I like the fuzzy funky stuff with lots of color. Three skeins of multi-colored in those colors with a touch of yellow from my friend made my day. My hat pattern doesn’t take much concentration so I’ve been cranking out the hats ever since.
Still have problems though with camo yarn. Lion brand had to change suppliers and the new yarn is more like cord than yarn. No fuzz, no stretch. These caps have to stretch, since they’re more like helmet liners than caps. Guys who wear hoods like them because when their hood blows back off their head the hat still keeps them warm. I could call them “No Sweat” hats because they have enough open work in them to allow them to let off steam!
So think of us if you’re out in the snow. We’ll be sitting making more hats and warm things. We’re out to warm up the world. We passed out a lot of stuff for people just before Christmas. So now we start over again, the two of us. If you’re a crocheter or a knitter or you like to make things for babies, or fleece blankets, call me. If you’d like to learn how to do needlework, let us know. It’s one of the easiest groups to belong to, the CCC Prayer Shawl Ministry. No meetings regularly, phone contact pretty much. We pray over each piece that we make that it fill a need for the receiver and help them remember that we care. A warm hug of yarn is what we make. The need just keeps on growing. If you know someone who could benefit from a hat, laprobe, prayer shawl, or some baby things, let us know. We always have things on hand. We send stuff everywhere.
Romans 14:19 “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things that wherewith one may edify one another.”
Luke 22:32 “When thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”
Romans 1:12 “That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.”
