Join Thanksgiving and Christmas Again

by Joanne Wiklund

I think we can combine holidays again this year. As Christians we’ve done that for many seasons, we don’t think about it though. We look forward to Thanksgiving and being together with our loved ones. We are reminded again when we sit around with family and friends just what a privilege it is to be blessed with such great loved ones. Also, we bear the hurt we have because so many of our loved ones aren’t here now with us.

So as we move to our next holiday, we need to take Thanksgiving and the shared love we felt there with us into this beloved Christmas season. We will be thankful to be able to give those same people gifts, large or small, things we hunt for that will help make those special people happy.

Enjoy the hunt, forgive the crabby people out there, the glitches that sometimes hit when we shop online and don’t get what we ordered. Return? Not generally. I try to find someone that size or need and pass it on. Make someone else surprised and happy. Then just reorder! Don’t have to deal with charges refunded, or not, what size box do we need? Stand in line at the shipping place. We find Hope in Christmas. Pass that on also. Onward into our Christmas season as we remember Jesus is the reason for the season. That will never be a trite remark!

Psalm 33:20-23 “Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.” 21. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.”

Psalm 56:11 “In God have I put my  trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. 12. Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee. For thou has delivered my soul from death, wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?”
