School has started back this year and no one was sure what it would look like. One thing you may not know about me is that I have driven a school bus for many years. I value that opportunity in order to get to know the children and the parents and school administration in our area. I have been working through the many steps required in order to be able to drive for school districts in Illinois and am happy to say that I am now able to be a school bus driver in Illinois!
Being a school bus driver for the state of Illinois wasn’t as simple as just wishing for it and it happened. I had to study; I had to complete the necessary paperwork requirements; I had to take three different tests; I had to take a physical and be fingerprinted and have a background check. But, I knew what my goal was so I took the time to make a plan of completing the steps to reach that goal.
We have a goal for our church too. We want to see new families in our sanctuary and new relationships with Jesus formed. It isn’t enough just to wish for it and magically the next Sunday, our sanctuary is filled to overflowing. We have to prayerfully make a plan. What steps can you make to invest in someone with the hope of reaching them for the Lord? What steps can you make to invest in our community and help those who are hurting so that they know God sees them and loves them? Pray for opportunities each morning and you will find them! Pray that your eyes would be open to the Spirit’s leading so that those opportunities are not wasted. And, pray that God would use your strengths and abilities that He equipped you with to do His work.
1 Timothy 2:4 says that He “wants all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Put your feet into action and get on the bus!! Make a plan, set a goal, and ask God to direct your steps. In Proverbs 16:9 it says that “In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.”
- To get a jumpstart, write the names of three people you think you should invite:
1.
2.
3.
- Then ask God to help you do the next step He calls you
to do.
God bless, Steve
